Learn about the latest projects from Casey Wolfe, author of "One Bullet"

Today’s guest author on the blog is Casey Wolfe! Casey has a recently published novel as well as some very cool projects in the pipeline. Thanks for stopping by today!

From Casey’s Bio: For Casey, writing equals existence. History nerd, film enthusiast, avid gamer, and just an all around geek. Casey has been known to spend a lot of time dancing around the kitchen to music while cooking. Add in an unapologetic addiction to loose leaf tea, and you get the general picture. Married, with furry, four-legged children, Casey lives happily in the middle-of-nowhere, Ohio.

Tell us a little bit about your most recent book, One Bullet.

One Bullet follows Ethan Brant, a former police officer suffering from PTSD, and Detective Shawn Greyson, the man who saved his life. They start out as friends, navigating through their growing feelings, and finding they both want more. While PTSD is certainly apart of the story, the angst and darkness is kept to a minimum in favor of focusing on the lighter sides of the story. I wanted to create a comfort read, something that would be nice after a long day when you just need something happy to read (you know those stories I’m talking about). In that, this is a slice-of-life tale. There’s no mystery, no big bad guy to stop, just Ethan and Shawn discovering each other, and dealing with everyday life, friends, and family.

Your next project, The Inquisition Trilogy, sounds right up my alley. Can you tell us more about it?

It’s an urban fantasy trilogy set in the modern world, but in a universe of my own creation. It’s called Eiocha (named after the white mare made of sea foam, from an ancient Celtic creation myth), and while it’s rather vast, I promise not to throw you into the deep end right away. We’ve got time to explore the places, cultures, and workings of the world.

The trilogy follows the same group of friends, and each book focuses on a different couple. While there’s an overarching plot line carried over the course of the books, each one has a self-contained subplot happening within it. So, a lot is going on, and not everything is guaranteed to be what it seems.

We start our journey in A Mage’s Power. Rowan is a master mage working towards grandmaster – a mage who has obtained a Masters in all five Schools of Magic. He works as an enchanter while burying himself in his studies, not really leaving time for romance. Shaw works for the Inquisition, an international organization charged with policing magicae – any races that have magical abilities. Something isn’t right within the ranks, however, and the whispers of kidnappings and corruption are too much to ignore, so Shaw takes it upon himself to find answers.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

Hmm, depends on the day, really. Then again, I tend to write late at night and into the early morning, so, there have been many times I’ve just written until I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore.

What is the most difficult part of your artistic process?

Whenever I hit a down point when I just don’t feel like writing, or where I just hate everything. When that happens, I usually step away from writing and do something completely different to burn off steam. It might take a day or two – sometimes longer – but that tends to do the trick.
